Our partners at Ocean Co. collect, weigh, and sort ocean-bound plastic on our behalf, then recycle it according to its most valuable use.
They operate in areas with the largest plastic collection gap, confronting the crisis in areas where it matters most.
we love the sea
At Arrowtown, we’re all about making a splash. Being native seasiders, we grew up next to the coast and always wanted to do our part for the big blue so we’ve teamed up with the good guys at Ocean Co.
Why the oceans, you ask? Well, they cover more than 70% of our planet, which is a pretty good reason to start. But here’s the not-so-great part: every single day, 22 million kilograms of plastic find their way into the ocean.
That’s a truckload every minute. At this rate, by 2050 we’ll have more plastic in the ocean than fish!
teamwork makes the dreamwork
That’s why we’ve teamed up with Ocean Co. to join a global movement of individuals and organisations with one ambitious goal: to collect 7 billion ocean-bound plastic bottles by the end of 2025.
Through our partnership, we’re pledging to fund the collection of at least 3,600 kilograms of ocean-bound plastic this year. But it’s not just about cleaning up; it’s also about supporting livelihoods in coastal regions hit hardest by plastic pollution.
who we help
Locals in affected communities, like the Philippines, Brazil, Egypt, Ghana, India, and Indonesia collect this plastic, which they can then exchange for money or digital credit. These credits can be used for tuition, tech goods, healthcare, or micro-finance.
This entire process is made possible thanks to partners—Plastic Bank, Plastics for Change, and rePurpose—who set up collection sites and ensure every transaction is secure and traceable through advanced technology.
