We're now supporting the Captain Paul Watson Foundation
New partner. Same mission.
We're pleased to announce that Sea Shepherd UK has now been renamed the Captain Paul Watson Foundation. Captain Paul Watson is the original founder of Sea Shepherd and this move allows the charity to align itself with his original vision of conserving the ocean and its wildlife through direct action tactics. The foundation and its team aren't ones to sit on the sidelines, and the change allows them to work with any like-minded NGOS across the globe to ensure maximum impact.
We're proud to continue supporting their amazing work through our donation of 3% of every can sold and look forward to following the impact they continue to have, both close to home on UK coastlines and further afield.
Their current mission is Operation Bloody Fjords. This operation is dedicated to protecting small cetaceans that are massacred every year in the Faroe Islands, in their annual drive hunts called "grindadráp". Pods of whales and dolphins are chased into shallow bays, where locals on the beach use hooks to pull them ashore and kill them with spinal lances and knives. In 2021, 1428 Atlantic white-sided dolphins were killed here. The foundation is setting out to stop this cruel and outdated tradition.
If the ocean dies, we die. Keep doing your bit.
